Rother Radio – Special Announcement Love Local, Love Music!
It is the season of hope, and nowhere is this more evident than at Rotherham Rise. This December sees a significant change for the local charity, which provides services, support and advice to adults, young people and children affected by domestic abuse and child sexual exploitation. From 3rd December, Rotherham Rise will be Hopian, meaning hope.
The name change is a very positive and exciting development, according to CEO Sue Wynne:
“At Hopian, we provide a message of hope for individuals and families affected by domestic abuse and child sexual exploitation. Over the years, we have expanded our support, counselling and refuge services and enhanced community preventative work. By understanding trauma and offering empowering support, we help families, children, and the community towards a better future.
Hopian as a name is reflective of our aims: to give hope to those people who are suffering due to domestic abuse or struggling with the impact of child sexual exploitation. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment beyond immediate assistance. Our recovery services include specialised support, groups, counselling, and community activities which are important for healing and rebuilding a future with hope.
The change to Hopian marks a new chapter in our charity’s journey, but our mission remains the same: to offer hope and support to those in need. We invite the community to join us in this mission. Together, we can create a society that values safety, respect, and dignity for all, where relationship violence, abuse, and sexual exploitation are not accepted or tolerated.
Finally, through our Frith Space community café and hub, located at 18 High Street, Rotherham, we aim to ensure that the name change promotes positivity within our free activities for all age groups. Our objective is to provide Rotherham with a hopeful space where communities can come together. Remember, you are not alone—hope and support is available.”
If you currently live in fear of a partner or ex-partner, please know there are many ways to reach out for advice and support; people care, and you are not alone. You can contact the Hopian (formerly Rotherham Rise) Advice line on 0330 2020571 [Mon – Fri 9am- 5pm], email help@hopain.org.uk or visit hopian.org.uk.
