(Statement from Sophie’s Mum):

Sophie is only 23 years old, with a 2 year old son called Remi (our beloved grandson).   Sophie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in June 2023 following a seizure. We were devastated and our lives were turned upside down.  But Sophie simply got on with it and has been battling like a true warrior for the last 18 months. To watch her undergo two lots of brain surgery to debulk the tumour, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy has been heartbreaking. She is on so much medication to help with symptoms.  Yet, Sophie doesn’t complain. She is a true fighter.  She fights so hard every day to be here for her beautiful son Remi, who needs his Mummy.

Sadly the treatment is no longer  working and the NHS cannot offer her anything else. We have found a clinic in Germany that is offering life saving/prolonging immunotherapy treatment. This treatment comes at a huge cost, but you cannot put a price on the life of your child.  Anyone would do everything in their power to save them. As a mother, I simply cannot  bear to think what life would be like without Sophie.  As a nanny, I cannot imagine Remi growing up without his amazing mummy.

I am doing everything within my power to raise funds to get Sophie to Germany and have set up a gofund me page and I’m organising local events to raise funds. Our community has been fantastic and I have been  truly humbled by the support given.  However, we need your help.  I appreciate these are difficult times, but was wondering if you could donate to Sophie’s fund, or any help whatsoever, even by printing the poster below to display it in your business or staff room, and to help us raise awareness of Sophie’s Story so that together we can save Sophie. Every little helps.

Sophie bravely documented her story on Sophie’s Journey and Saving Sophie on Facebook and Instagram.

The Sheffield Star and Rotherham Advertiser have also published an article on Sophie’s story.

Rotherham United did an article in their programme at their game against Barnsley last week.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and Sophie’s story. And thank you from the bottom of my heart for any help that you can give us.
